Lakes Entrance

Lakes Entrance is situated between Bairnsdale and Orbost at a man-made channel, boasting Australia's largest inland network of waterways known as the Gippsland Lakes.  As a water-front town, Lakes Entrance is very popular all year around, including the winter months when the climate is often a few degrees warmer than Melbourne.

The little coastal town is situated on the edge of the popular Ninety Mile Beach where the Gippsland Lakes meets the Southern Ocean.  A walk across the popular footbridge, which links the town centre will lead to the sand dunes and windswept coastline. A number of panoramic lookouts provide stunning panoramic views over the town centre of Lakes Entrance, the surrounding waterways and down to the Ninety Mile Beach.

As a holiday town with a large emphasis on water activities and a high concentration of marinas and jetties along its extensive lake coastline, Lakes Entrance is renowned as a seafood capital due to the large number of fishing trawlers operating in the area.
